Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine named Green Car Journal’s 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year

WOW! The Volvo XC90 has done it again! Here’s ANOTHER award to place on the shelf!


 

The all-new Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine, the world’s first seven passenger plug-in hybrid SUV, has been named Green Car Journal’s 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year. The XC90 T8 offers a combined 400 horsepower by way of a two-liter turbocharged and supercharged gas engine in front and an electric motor at the rear. Together, they deliver an EPA-rated 53 MPGe, making the all-wheel-drive XC90 T8 the world’s most powerful and efficient SUV.

A team of Volvo Cars safety experts traveled to the Australian Capital Territory this week to film and study the roadside behavior of kangaroos in their natural habitat. The data Volvo Cars collects will be used to develop the first ever kangaroo detection and collision avoidance system.
